Dear Fisher Grade School Parents,
Hello, I hope this message finds you healthy and safe. Obviously, what we are experiencing with COVID-19 is uncharted waters for all of us. That being said, I know all of you have a million questions on what next week, next month and the rest of the school year is going to look like. I know I will not be able to answer all of you questions here as things seem to be changing daily. However, I want to encourage you as we work through this difficult time together. I know our teachers have had your children on their minds all week long as they have begun planning for our “Distance Learning” opportunities. Please know that while we won’t be able to see your children each day, that doesn’t mean that the learning has to stop. Our goal is that our teachers continue to provide great learning opportunities for our students while we are in this shut-down period.
You should be hearing from your child’s teacher on Monday as he/she sends you a “Welcome to Distance Learning” greeting. During our school shut down, our teachers will be providing daily learning opportunities for your children. Any work that the students complete during the closure is not allowed to negatively impact their grade. Students work may count, but only if it increases their grade. That being said, it is important that students make the effort to complete these daily learning opportunities so that they are still moving forward and not falling behind. Our teachers will be available to you and your students by way of email. If you have any specific questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact them.
These daily learning opportunities can be found on this link: https://www.fisherk12.org/o/fsd/page/distance-learning-days. If you lose the link, it can be found on the District Web Page under the “Distance Learning Tab.” Please continue to direct your attention to the “Live Feed” tab on the Fisher App as well as the Fisher Schools Web Page for any updates and changes during the shut-down.
I’m sure your students probably need some of their learning materials from their desks or lockers. We will be opening the school on Monday, March 23rd from 8:00 to 12:00 for this purpose. Please keep in mind that this is to be a quick IN and OUT while practicing “Social Distancing Rules.”
Parents, if you check out the Distance Learning link, you will see that many of the teachers have already begun inputting Learning Opportunities for your children for the coming week. While many of these activities may be completed online, some of them may be hard copy materials or part of a homework packet. In the coming weeks, we plan to have any hard-copy materials needed for the entire week runoff and ready for pick-up on Monday mornings between 9:00-12:00. We may not be quite ready for this first week, so please give us a little flexibility and understanding while our staff gets things figured out.
I hope this message gives you the basic information needed to get things started. Again, I just want to encourage you as we move forward….”Together We Can!” If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to email me. I will be keeping office hours each week, so you may call the school between 8:00-1:00 each day for assistance.
Jim Moxley, Principal
